Intro

“You should write a BLOG”… After hearing this suggestion many, many times during the past five or six years and responding “I am not a writer”, I don’t know how”, I don’t have time” and my most often repeated response… “Who would want to read about us”, we decided to give it a go. My questions may still be valid and the results may prove disappointing. In that case, I will fall back on “I told you so”.

We are a very active, somewhat normal – I suspect – happily married, different-sex, couple. We made a few plans during our first year of marriage and we have altered them many times since then. What happened, perhaps in spite of us, has been a really incredible life populated by numerous “Once-in-a-lifetime” moments with many more expected. Our work lives were varied, our interests broad and our level of enthusiasm for discovering new “things” remains unsatisfied. We are both retired now, living on a modest income, with not quite perfect health and an undying love of the Lord. We wish to share our adventures, thoughts, fears and triumphs. Having you come along will make it way more meaningful.

Please feel welcome to:

  • Post questions
  • Share your experiences
  • Suggest new destinations to visit
  • Correct our shortcomings
  • Feel a part of our family
  • Give us suggestions
  • Teach us “old dogs” new tricks

Cheers, David

Thank you Fred. We will do our best. Sad that we won’t be spending time together at “Low Key Hideaway”…

Wish you were here, but if you can’t be, we are at least able to keep up with your doings. In your wanderings, put us on your itenary.

A big warm “HOWDY” to you both. We too wish we were there. In addition to my health issues preventing immediate travel, we discovered some major mechanical issues with our Roadtrek RV. I have already ordered and received the necessary components to complete the repair. I expect to have it roadworthy within two weeks… Happy Saturday and you guys are certainly on our itenerary (as soon as we have one) ;O)

Just went through your blog, particularly your trials and tribulations with your Roadtrek. I have the same model and same year, not the same amount of rust and everything works (except for some recent starting problems and battery issues that I have solved). I have had mine since 1998 (brand new when bought) and have done happy 235,000 kilometres including two trips to Alaska and several to the east coast and west coast. We go to Florida every winter. Hope to meet up with you sometime. I am a very active member of Roadtrek International and VP of Region 3 (Eastern Canada). I have held many rallies and am holding another one in September 2012 near Niagara Falls Canada. Let us meet up sometime. I like your philosophy of life.

Thank you for the kind words Doctor Verma. Congratulations on all of your wonderful Roadtrek adventures. We have a nice shady campsite with 30amp RV hookup, water and sewer dump right here at O.O.C.. We would love to meet you and have you spend some time with us. We are excited to have ours running like a top and making many new memories. We previously owned a 1988 Versatile (Dodge) and really enjoyed it. I do have a rather simple set of philosophies; A. Anyone or anything that angers you conquers you”. B. Any problem that can be solved with money is not a real problem”. I try very hard to live in constant gratitude and to let God direct my path. I know HE has often had a difficult time… ;O) Thank you very much for reading our blog.

I wholeheartedly agree with your philosophy, and try to follow the same. Interestingly enough it comes right out of ancient Indian scriptures called “The Vedas”, written over 6000 years ago by saints and sages who retreated from the world and introspected on the meaning of life. I was born into a Hindu family and am a student of these scriptures. The most important of these teachings is that different religions are merely different paths to the same goal. No matter what path one follows, one should follow it well. Your philosophy A reads in the Hindu scriptures as “Conquer the mind; you will conquer the world”. I can see that we will have a lot to talk about when we meet. In the meantime stay safe and enjoy every moment of your life.

“In the meantime stay safe and enjoy every moment of your life.” Thank you. I only have one comment on your last communication. It may sound argumentative, but it is not intended as such. I do not like the use – in any philosophy – of the word “Conquer”. I try to “Calm” my mind and in turn expect “Tranquility” from the portion of the world I inhabit. If I don’t allow conflict I eliminate the energy required to “Compete”. I know that probably sounds strange, many of my private thoughts are. ;O). In any case, I welcome our eventual meeting and the harmony we will share… Like water around rock…

Wow, I stumbled on your page while trying to find a reasonable price to pay for a RT, but wound up reading with interest your inspiring, funny posts, it’s good to see such a motivated happy couple. How awsome it is to see you folks like the MTB, I wish our Northport trails where as nice as the ones you have at Alva. A few of the pictures you have posted we can see the Airstream dream in the back ground. Why no mention of it in your posts? Anyhow, Be good and thanks for the info and entertainment!

Hi folks. I just had the identical trailer given to me last fall, and it was basically falling apart. Unfortunately there is dry rot in a lot of places and all of the appliances, furnace, etc. torn out of it. I’m in the process of rebuilding it to accommodate my needs as a “hunting camp” that’ll carry my quad and equipment.
There were no registration papers with it and the guy who gave it to me salvaged it from the bush on his property. I was hoping you might be able to give me the GVWR or GVW of your unit so I can know what to put down when I start the registration process this fall.
Thanks, and hope you and yours enjoy your travels.

      Fred…
Thank you for the inquiry, but I can’t help. We don’t have the information you need.
Good luck with your transformation and good hunting.
